Characterisation of organic coatings in sour media and influence of polymer structure on corrosion performance
Résumé
Epoxy coatings were evaluated in hydrogen sulphide containing sour media. Coatings exhibit no change in electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) spectra, though under-film corrosion occurs. In fact, hydrogen sulphide and water permeate through the polymer and provoke corrosion without causing film damage. EIS was also used to associate polymer structure and the corrosion protection performance. The effects of stoichiometric composition, average weight between cross-links and temperature changes as interpreted by glass transition effect were investigated.
