Apport des techniques de caractérisation pour les catalyseurs hétérogènes en limitation diffusionnelle interne

Abstract : For catalysts in internal diffusion limited regime, Thiele modulus is expressed as function of kinetic constant, effective diffusion coefficient and size of the pellet. In order to better understand the internal diffusion limitation or to improve the design of industrial catalysts, I have proposed a strategy to develop some characterization techniques or models. Once these models and techniques have been developed, their application raises new questions, asking for their improvement (representativeness, cost, easiness). A virtuous circle is then initiated. In this manuscript, I present the analytic developments done on selective hydrogenation, hydro-processing and hydro-cracking catalysts. The reactivity has been explored through X-Ray Diffraction, Transmission Electron Microscopy and Electron Tomography, as well as the mass transport (batch diffusion-adsorption experiments, Pulsed Field Gradient Nuclear Magnetic Resonance), and pellet's size (Electron Probe Micro Analysis, optical microscopy, Scanning Electron Microscopy). The tools developed during this work led to a better knowledge of these catalytic systems and have produced generic tools that may be employed in other fields.
