Ladies and Gentlemen, dear Colleagues, First of all, I would like to welcome you on behalf of the IFP and of the members of the Scientific Committee of this international conference. This conference is dedicated to gas-water-rock interactions induced by reservoir exploitation, CO2 sequestration and other geological storage. This meeting takes place in the framework of the "Scientific Meetings of IFP" (Les Rencontres scientifiques de l’IFP) which are organized twice a year. These meetings aim at highlighting the most recent and striking scientific achievements in the various technical areas of interest to the oil and gas industries and at estimating the potential for progress that these achievements represent. They are for IFP an effective way to fulfil one of its main roles, which is to facilitate the diffusion, towards industry, of knowledge of emerging concepts or new technologies elaborated in laboratories of universities and research institutes.
